Corewell Health is the new name for Beaumont.

500-hour Clinical Yoga Therapy Program

This program is the second part of the 800-hour hospital-based yoga therapy training program. 

Curriculum

 

The curriculum includes 5 courses:

  • Outpatient YT Clinic
  • Inpatient YT Clinic
  • Clinical YT Group Practicum
  • Distant Mentored Practicum
  • Research Literacy

In addition to the 5 Clinical courses mentioned above, students are required to complete the 2 philosophy courses that were not completed in the Academic program. Selection is determined by enrollment period:

  • Yoga Sutra or Bhagavad Gita
  • History and Business of Yoga or Upanishads and Professional Development

Students will learn to:

  • Interact with patients both in group and private setting.
  • Assess patients and help them define measurable goals.
  • Implement evidence-based intervention plans.
  • Document encounters.
  • Communicate effectively with other clinicians as part of an integrated healthcare team.

Upon successful completion of course requirements, students will receive a Yoga Therapy Certificate of Completion.

 

Tuition

$40 non-refundable application fee + $5,150 tuition (discount and payment plan available). Textbooks are not included in tuition and must be provided by the student.

Requirements 

Requirements to apply to the Clinical program are:

  • Successful completion of a foundational 200-yoga teacher training or equivalent education integrating the following categories: yoga techniques, anatomy and physiology (western and eastern), yoga philosophy, teaching methodology, and practicum hours. A copy of the certificate is required at registration.
  • Successful completion of 300-hour Academic program or equivalent education (see transfer policy).
  • Minimum one year of personal practice.
  • Minimum 50 hours or one year of teaching experience as yoga/meditation instructor.

In order to work with patients, all students must comply with Corewell Health Employee Health Services and Human Resources requirements. 

Transfer Policy

Transfers are evaluated on a case-by-case basis and will be admitted to the Yoga Therapy Clinical program. The review process includes:

  • Interview with program director
  • Evaluation of student’s background of yoga education and professional experience
  • Successful completion of final assessments of Academic Courses 1-5 and Philosophy Courses 1 and 2

In order to be admitted to the review process, students must provide:

  1. Proof of successful completion of 300-hour yoga therapy and/or advanced yoga education. Note that neither the 200-hour yoga teacher training, nor personal practice hours can be counted as transfer hours.
  2. Proof of Yoga Alliance RYT500 credential or record of at least 100-hours of yoga teaching experience.

Transfer students are admitted pending availability (class size is limited).

Students must complete a minimum of 500-hours in the Corewell Health Yoga in Healthcare program to receive a certificate of completion. 300 hours maximum can be credited from previous training.  The number of hours that can be credited is determined based on topics covered in previous training.

In addition to Clinical program application fee and tuition, transfer students are responsible for:

  • $50 non-refundable assessment fee to be paid with application, before taking the assessment
  • $250 non-refundable transfer fee to be paid together with $500 deposit to complete enrollment.
